Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has been training doctors & other health professionals under the WHO fellowship programme. Building up on the experience, proposals were invited for establishment of collaborating centres for fellowship programmes from institutions all over India. In response a proposal was submitted by the Principal, Dr. RP Government Medical College Kangra at Tanda and it is heartening to note that the proposal was accepted. Dr. RP Government Medical College Kangra at Tanda has been enlisted as WHO Collaborating Centre in India for the following specialties: 1. AYUSH role in NCDs, Health Promotion 2. Training of AYUSH practitioners under National Programmes.
In order to provide comprehensive health care to the entire population the college adopted Health Sub Center Rajhiana in a function held at village Rajhiana on 5th of February. Dr. Anil Chauhan, Principal Dr. RP Govt Medical College Tanda, formally adopted this sub center to be managed by the department of community medicine as an intensive field practice area. The said sub centre caters to a total of three villages in and around Rajhiana covering three Panchayats, Rajhiana, Sadarpur and Thanpuri.
Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal visited Dr. RPGMC Tanda on 15th February 2011 and dedicated the newly constructed Vivekanand Doctor's Residences to resident doctors of the Institute. The complex houses 64 two bed room flats and is constructed at a cost of Rs 10.88 crore.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Prof. Prem Kumar Dhumal visited the Dr. RPGMC Tanda on 05-10-2010. During his visit, he has inaugurated official website of the institute, ART Center, Blood component separation unit, Autopsy complex, Animal house and Type IV residential complex. He also laid foundation stone of Lecture theatre complex and Type III residential complex.
